Steel
Iron ore (raw material) directly comes from mines to be converted to pellets in pelletizing plant. In direct reduction (PR) proses and removing the oxygen, pellets are converted to sponge iron. The sponge iron and iron scarp are two main commodity in steel manufacturing companies. In the procedure of melting in electrical arc furnace, liquid steel needs to be purified in a separation unit. What we are going to produce as an end product mostly could be specified by market demand.
Reinforcing Bar
Rebar (reinforcing bar) is a type of steel with circular cross section and high length/diameter ratio which is used to increase the tensile strength of concrete. Concrete has high compressive strength but its tensile strength is very low (Compressive strength of concrete is about 10 times its tensile strength). Although the concrete could be used in pressurized parts such as columns and foundations but its low tensile strength makes it unsuitable for using alone in parts that are simultaneously under the influence of tension and pressure. Rebar is used to tackle this issue. Typically, Rebar is classified in two types of mild (plain and smooth surface) and deformed (ribbed).
Billet
Steel Billet is a long semi-finished product with a circular or square cross-section. Through rolling and casting, billets are transformed to finished long steel products such as rebar, wire, structural shapes, etc. Typically there are two types of steel billets: 3SP & 5SP.
