MONOETHANOLAMINE is obtained from the reaction between ammonia and ethylene oxide. It has a low volatility at room temperature, is hygroscopic, presents an ammoniac odor and can appear in solid or liquid form depending on the temperature and the purity grade. Monoethanolamine is a colorless or slightly yellow transparent liquid with a unique aroma resembling ammonia. It’s none soluble in water, dissolves in many organic solvents well. Monoethanolamine or ethanol Amin is the first production with antihistamines property. This compound is used in the production of a wide variety of detergents and cleaners, liquid soups, shampoos and bath hygiene products. Another usage of MEA is in gas refining as it removes all off Sulphur contaminate and carbon dioxide.

There are several industrial applications that a liquid phase solvent is used to selectively absorb the pollutions from a gas passing through in absorbing column, the most usage is absorbing CO2 from fossil fuel in internal power plants.
